So many people shut down after getting hurt. They build walls to hide behind and fear ever truly being seen. But pain, if we use it wisely and experience it fully can actually break us open instead of breaking us down. It is only when we have broken open that we can finally begin to allow the light to seep in. Don’t be afraid of opening yourself up and don’t be afraid of the possibility of getting hurt. Without the cracks, tears, and abrasions the light could never get through to our hearts. The most compassionate souls that have walked this earth are the ones that have endured much pain, heartache, and suffering but they did so openly without closing themselves off. By staying open and experiencing pain consciously we  blossom into brighter souls with a far greater capacity for love, empathy, and compassion. If you close yourself off in order to avoid feeling pain, you will also be closing yourself off from experiencing love. To deny love is to deny yourself one of the greatest adventures that we get to experience. Be brave and let love in again. Let love open you up and grow you into the beautiful flower that you are meant to become.
